1. What is the difference between a Sunroom and a Room addition?
Two thirds of the structure is windows/door. It has its own heating system and foundation. Doorways are open.
2. What are the materials used in the wood sunrooms?
We use only the finest clear cedar from Lindal. Lindal has their own stand of old growth trees in Western Canada. Imagine a 16 foot 6x8 cedar beam without any knots. The beam is slowly kiln dried until it holds only 13% water content. Joints and seams are assembled and carefully sanded together so the joint casts no shadow when they are assembled for you on site.
3. I have heard that if my glass fogs up in my Lindal sunroom it will be replaced free of charge?
Yes, all of our vertical glass comes standard wih our heat shield glass, which allows virtually no heat to pass through. If this glass EVER fogs up Lindal will send new glass free of charge. This warrany is good forever. No time limit!
4. How customized can my sunroom be?
If you can dream it we can build it. Lindal has standard designs and custom designs. Either way, we have drawings prepared on most sunrooms for your approval within 24 hours. Our sunrooms attach to the house with a factory designed ledger system. All we have to do is make sure it is level and not going anywhere.
5. Can snow be a problem with my sunrooms strength, etc?
For long spans or heavy snow loads, we can specify laminated beams with a cedar vaneer or for less you can specify a laminated beam without a vaneer. Our standard beams often exceed snow load requirements.
